We bought a great house – with a ton of great features, and a kitchen that was state of the art – in 1988.   We interviewed a number of architects about design concepts and got responses ranging from “keep it, its kitsch” to “tear it down, but keep the appliances”.  When Meg showed up, and wandered through the space,  she asked two very unique questions: “What makes you happy about the room; what makes you most unhappy.”  From that moment, we knew we wanted to work with her.  It was, simply put, the best decision we made.  She offered us alternatives, based on price range and happiness factor, and, of course, incorporating our own aesthetic vision (which she often mediated since my husband and I have contrasting tastes).   She treated our job with the same passion that she would if it was her house.   Based on her ideas, we decided to expand our project beyond the kitchen and she worked with us on the restructure of the family room, laundry room and bathroom as well as consulted and advised on other parts of the house.   Now when someone asks “What makes you happy about your space, the answer is “Everything.”

 I think the best compliment to give Meg came from my cabinet maker.  He said that he sees lots and lots of kitchens but none of them work as well as my kitchen works!

It is with great pleasure that I write this testimonial about Margret Browning Kufferman of Browning Residential Design. She is an exceptional designer who is both passionate about her work and a consummate professional. She was recommended to me by my cabinetmaker who has worked with her for years. He said that I would not be disappointed.  He was right!

Meg did an amazing job redesigning a kitchen and butler’s pantry for my waterfront home.   She was able to create a design that made the most of the water view by eliminating the top cabinets on one side of the kitchen. I was concerned that the loss of these cabinets would result in a problem with storage, but the kitchen Meg designed has even more storage space and functions better than my original kitchen….not to mention it is incredibly beautiful.  

 Working with Meg was a wonderful experience even though I never met her in person.  Once I supplied her with the blueprints, we were able to complete the project via emails and telephone conversations. Meg always responded to my calls and emails promptly. She often provided me with several options accompanied by the positive and negative aspects of each one, and she then helped me decide what was best for my kitchen. She listened carefully to what I wanted and she delivered!
